Mikvah Travel Fund

An airplane, a bus, or a train are just some forms of transportation needed to get to the Mikvah for some Chabad Rebbetzins living in remote areas.

Beginning a worldwide movement, the Lubavitcher Rebbe began sending out his Chassidim all over the world to spread Yiddishkeit and bring the light of Torah to every corner of the earth.

Many aspects of Jewish life that are taken for granted by someone living in a Jewish community, become great challenges for these isolated yet brave & courageous Shluchim and Shluchos. Kosher food must be shipped in a few times a year, local Jewish education for their children is nonexistent, and finding 10 Jews to make a minyan on Shabbos is an effort. Often these shluchim do not yet have a local Mikvah.

The Mitzvah of Mikvah, Taharas Hamishpocho, is the foundational cornerstone of our marriages. For most of us, it’s as simple as ordering a pie of pizza for dinner. However, for the number of shluchos who live in remote areas, planning their monthly Mikvah trip requires meticulous organization for the upcoming week, substantially high costs and clearing their schedule for a few days.

Rochel is still learning the language of her new country, her house filled with backpackers who come to visit the beautiful mountains she calls home. Her husband shechts the chickens for their family and community, enabling others to eat kosher. Each month when she needs the mikvah, Rochel must take a fourteen hour bus ride to the closest large city. With no buses late at night to return home, Rochel must hire a driver. All this at an expense of $250. For many of these trips, Rochel and her husband are able to pay for this special mitzvah, but there are months where the cost is more than they could afford.

Chana lives in a beautiful tourist town that people dream of visiting. Her children learn online and haven’t seen a frum child since the previous year’s Kinus (Conference for Chabad Shluchim & their children). They are so proud to be shluchim despite the challenges. Chana doesn’t yet have a mikvah in her city, as the cost of property there is very expensive and they haven’t been able to buy a piece of land, let alone build. Her monthly mikvah visit requires an $800 or more plane ride. It’s very difficult to come up with these funds every month.

Mushky moved out on shlichus 5 years ago. Boruch HaShem she has four young children. She teaches them at home while making time for her women’s class and weekly Shabbos dinners. The closest mikvah is 6 hours away. Every month, the whole family piles into the car, spends a night in a hotel, and drives home the following day. The tolls, gas and hotels add up to around $400.

There are over 100 shluchos that live in such locations. They do their life long mission with joy, However, this special mitzvah comes with a prohibitive price tag and often a huge stress.

To alleviate this stress for Rebbetzins who devote their entire life to helping others, The Mikvah travel fund was born! 100% of funds raised goes directly to cover the Shluchos Mikvah travel costs. In order to succeed we need YOUR help.

As our fellow brothers and sisters around the world, we ask you to partner with us and help with this most holy and beautiful Mitzvah. Any amount given will go a long way in helping a Shlucha cover the high costs of Mikvah with more ease.

In the merit of supporting The mitzvah of Family Purity, may you be blessed with happy and healthy future Jewish generations. דור ישרים מבורך עוסקים בתורה ובמצות
